Beaneaters Win to Extend
Series Lead to 2-0 |
Riding the 5-hit performance
of shortstop Leopold
Russell, the Boston
Beaneaters got a road win against the Cleveland
Cats, 5-1, in Game 2 of the World’s
Championship Series today. Russell was 5 for 5 with
a double and 4 singles, while adding 4 RBI for the
Beaneaters, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2
games to 0.
Russell had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in
the top of the fifth inning, when he hit a 2-run
single. The Beaneaters went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep
this momentum going," Russell told reporters after
the game.
Game 3 is set to be played Friday, October 18th,
1889 at Atlantic Avenue Grounds in Boston. The
scheduled starters for the game are Scott
Dunning for Cleveland and Jonathan
Richter for Boston.
