Allan, Cats Wallop Beaneaters in Game 5 of R1
The Cleveland Cats have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Boston Beaneaters, winning 13-2 at Atlantic Avenue Grounds today. Cats first baseman Wash Allan was named player of the game after he was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The win cuts the deficit facing the Cats to 3-2 in the best-of-7 World’s Championship Series.

Allan delivered in the top of the third inning for Cleveland. With the game tied and a runner on 3rd, the first baseman hit a 2-run home run to left.

"I'm not sweating it," Boston manager told reporters after the loss. "We'll recover. They say it's all about winning games, but I would put up with a heck of a lot of losses as long as we hoist that trophy at the end of the year."

The next game is scheduled for Tuesday in Cleveland. Slated to start are Jonathan Richter for Boston and Andy Morrow for Cleveland.
