New York Wins at Home to
Take 2-1 Lead in World Series
|
The New
York Knickerbockers got a strong performance
from pitcher Catfish
Hoff, who stymied the visiting Brooklyn
Bluebirds en route to a 6-2 win in Game 3 of
the World's Championship Series today. The Bluebirds
could never get a bead on the right-handed Hoff, who
threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball to earn player of the
game honors. The Knickerbockers now hold a 2-1 in
the best-of-9 series.
Hector
Faust's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh
inning was a big one for New York. Coming to bat
with two out, the bases loaded and New York leading
3-2, the catcher reached on an error by the left
fielder, driving in 2 runs.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the
playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in
and get hot," New York manager told BNN after the
win. "We took care of the first part and now we're
just working on the second."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in New York.
The scheduled starters for the game are Leander
McNaughton for Brooklyn and Sam
Coburn for New York.
