Raucous Washington Square Park Crowd Propels Knickerbockers to 3-0 Victory; Series Tied at 1
Trailing by a game in the World's Series, Moe Niemann was ready for his start.

The right-hander turned in a performance for the ages at Washington Square Park today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the New York Knickerbockers to victory in Game 2 of the World's Series. Niemann held the Pittsburgh Industrials to 7 hits and no walks, while striking out 6. The win brought New York into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.

The Industrials had trouble solving Niemann, who surrendered no earned runs on 7 hits over 9 innings.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Niemann said.

The next game is scheduled for Friday at Dormont Park. Slated to start are Phineas Flint for the New York Knickerbockers and Antonio Butt for the the Pittsburgh Industrials.
