Road Win Lifts Cincinnati
to 1-0 Lead in World Series
|
Rufus
How and the Cincinnati
Packers opened the World's Series in brilliant
fashion today, traveling to Brooklyn
and shutting out the host Bluebirds at Avenue U Park
2-0 to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7
series. How, the Packers right-hander, was named
player of the game as he threw 9 innings of shutout
ball.
How, who was born in Lowville, New York, threw 101
pitches over 9 innings, while allowing no earned
runs.
"We're happy," How told reporters after the win.
"When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat
every game like it could be your last."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Brooklyn.
Slated to start are Elijah
Graves for Cincinnati and Pinkney
Bingham for Brooklyn.
