Road Win Lifts Brooklyn to 1-0 Lead in World Series
The Brooklyn Bluebirds started the World's Series in style today, winning on the road against the Chicago Traders at Calumet Park by a score of 4-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Bluebirds right-hander Nathaniel Flannigan was named player of the game after he threw 9 innings of 8-hit ball.

Chris Shaver aided the Brooklyn cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Shaver told the Brooklyn Today.

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in Chicago. The scheduled starters for the game are Hokey Lancaster for the Brooklyn Bluebirds and Matthew Sullivan for the the Chicago Traders.
