Hiatt, Chicago Start
World's Series Strong with Home Win
|
Chicago
second baseman Spook
Hiatt produced all the offense the Traders
would need today in the club's 14-0 win over the Brooklyn
Bluebirds.
Hiatt was 5-5 with a triple, 4 singles, and a walk,
while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 and was named
player of the game, while Chicago
advanced one game closer to a World's Series berth
with the win. The Traders now hold a 1-0 lead over
the Bluebirds in the best-of-7 series.
The Traders had to work out of trouble in the top of
the ninth. The score was 14-0, Chicago, with one
out. Brooklyn, with the bases loaded, was mounting a
threat. Chris Shaver dug in at the plate, but on a
first pitch cutter, he hit into a double play.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Calumet
Park. Slated to start are Edgar
Blaney for Brooklyn and Walker
Price for Chicago.
