Traders Hammered by
Shaver, Drop Game 4 to Bluebirds
|
Handed an opportunity to take
a commanding lead in the World's Series, the Chicago
Traders could not close the deal.
Game 4 went into extra frames and the Brooklyn
Bluebirds emerged victorious, taking a
10-inning, walk-off win by the final score of 4-3.
Brooklyn third baseman Chris
Shaver was named player of the game. He went
went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk,
while scoring 2 times in the win at Flatbush Park
today to drag the Bluebirds back to parity. The
clubs are now tied 2-2 in the best-of-7 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth
inning, when Brooklyn right fielder Rupert
Allen, facing Jacob
Norwood, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It
gave the Bluebirds the 4-3 win.
"This place was rockin'," Allen said.
Game 5 is set to be played Monday. The scheduled
starters for the game are Walker
Price for Chicago and Ice
Clare for Brooklyn.
