Pivotal Game 5 Goes to
Host Bluebirds, 4-0 |
The Brooklyn
Bluebirds have a critical edge over the Chicago
Traders in the World's Series, thanks to the
veteran arm of Ice
Clare.
Clare, 34, put on a dominant performance at Flatbush
Park today, leading the Bluebirds to victory, 4-0,
in a pivotal Game 5. Brooklyn is now one game away
from the World's Series, leading the best-of-7
series by a margin of 3-2. Chicago will need to win
both remaining games to advance.
Clare pitched a complete game for Brooklyn. The
34-year-old left-hander was charged with no runs on
7 hits. He struck out 3 during his 118-pitch
performance.
"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard
down," Clare said. "I'll let my guard down as soon
as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my
finger."
The next game is scheduled for Wednesday at Calumet
Park. Slated to start are Edgar
Blaney for the Brooklyn Bluebirds and Matthew
Sullivan for the the Chicago Traders.
