Raucous Roman Arena Crowd
Propels Packers to 3-1 Victory; Series Tied at 3
|
The Cincinnati
Packers and the Brooklyn
Bluebirds will take the World's Series to a
decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today,
the Packers beat the Bluebirds 3-1 at Roman Arena to
force the series into what will essentially be a
one-game playoff. Cincinnati right-hander Ezra
Park was named player of the game in the win
after he threw 9 innings allowing 1 run.
Had Ira Drury delivered a base hit in the top of the
ninth, the outcome might have been different.
Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd,
Drury grounded out. The score remained 3-1,
Cincinnati, and the Packers were out of the jam.
Game 7 is scheduled for tomorrow in Cincinnati. The
scheduled starters for the game are Boyle
Slocum for Brooklyn and Harvey
Kelley for Cincinnati.
