Road Win Lifts St. Louis
to 3-2 Lead in World Series
|
Game 5 was big. So was Orlando
Nolan.
The St.
Louis starter rose to the occasion at
Washington Square Park today, earning player of the
game honors after leading the Explorers to a crucial
4-2 victory over the New
York Knickerbockers. Nolan threw 7 innings
allowing 2 runs as the Explorers won on the road to
seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 World Series.
It could have been a different outcome for St.
Louis, had it not been for Jake
Tripp, the 26-year old shortstop . Tripp
contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second
inning to put St. Louis up, 2-0.
"We put it together today and came out with the
win," Nolan said in postgame remarks. "That's the
main thing."
Game 6 is set to be played Tuesday, October 12th,
1915 at Castle Point Field. Slated to start are Lester
Howel for New York and Edgar
Bath for St. Louis.
