World Series Game 1 Victory for Carlson and Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Quakers started the World Series in style today, downing the visiting Chicago Traders at Penn's Landing Park by a score of 5-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Quakers right-hander Soloman Carlson was named player of the game after he threw 9 innings allowing 1 run.

Philadelphia grabbed control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Wiley Kitchen delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 2-1 in favor of the Quakers.

Kitchen attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in Philadelphia. The scheduled starters for the game are Berry Hocker for the Chicago Traders and Eli Bostater for the the Philadelphia Quakers.
