Explorers Win to Extend
Series Lead to 2-0 |
When the stakes were high, Warley
Krueger raised his game to match.
The left-handed Krueger turned in a stellar
performance in Game 2 of the World Series today,
pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead
the St. Louis
Explorers to victory. He allowed 3 hits and
struck out 4. The win gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead over
the Philadelphia
Quakers in the best-of-7 series.
In his 132-pitch effort, Krueger allowed 1 earned
run on 3 hits over 9 innings. He walked 3 and struck
out 4.
Krueger said afterward that his team has grown over
the course of the season, adding: "It feels good
when a plan comes together."
The next game is set to be played Saturday at Penn's
Landing Park. The scheduled starters for the game
are Hampton
Bunker for St. Louis and Joshua
Crowder for Philadelphia.
