Quakers Even With Explorers After Extra-Innings Win
The Philadelphia Quakers and the St. Louis Explorers will take the World Series to a decisive 7th game. Facing a must-win situation at Castle Point Field today, the Quakers beat the Explorers 4-2 in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Philadelphia right-hander Millard Silver was named player of the game in the win after a strong outing in which he threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball.

Silver went the distance -- and then some -- for the Quakers, throwing 9.1 innings of 6-hit ball against the Explorers, striking out 5.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said St. Louis manager .

Game 7 is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Clay Easton for Philadelphia and Edgar Bath for St. Louis.
