St. Louis Breaks Through for First Win in World Series; Now Trails 2-1
The St. Louis Explorers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Philadelphia Quakers, winning 6-4 at Penn's Landing Park today. Explorers right-hander Edgar Bath was named player of the game after he threw 9 innings allowing 4 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Explorers to 2-1 in the best-of-7 World Series.

Ross Engler hit a run-scoring triple off Clay Easton in the top of the sixth, which put the Explorers in front, 3-2. Engler had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.

"It's a big deal," Engler said of the win. "If we had gone to 0-3, we're pretty much out of it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Warley Krueger for St. Louis and Millard Mayer for Philadelphia.
