St. Louis Win Evens Series
at 2 |
The St.
Louis Explorers got a complete game effort
from starter Warley
Krueger to move into a 2-2 tie with the Philadelphia
Quakers in the best-of-7 World Series.
The St.
Louis left-hander went the distance at Penn's
Landing Park, cooling off the Philadelphia
Quakers and striking out 4 to help St. Louis
take the 2-0 win that knotted the series.
Krueger was in the zone all game. He frustrated
Philadelphia hitters while giving the Explorers 9
innings of quality work. Krueger threw 110 pitches,
allowing 3 hits and getting 4 punchouts.
"I'll be honest," said Krueger. "I didn't have much
left in the tank."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Penn's
Landing Park in Philadelphia. The scheduled starters
for the game are Pinkney
Quinlan for St. Louis and Leon
Hawkins for Philadelphia.
