Explorers Win to Extend
Series Lead to 2-0 |
When the stakes were high, Hampton
Bunker raised his game to match.
The right-handed Bunker turned in a stellar
performance in Game 2 of the World Series today,
pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead
the St. Louis
Explorers to victory. He allowed 6 hits and
struck out 2. The win gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead over
the Brooklyn
Bluebirds in the best-of-7 series.
St. Louis first baseman Flip
Crawford helped the Explorers go up, 2-1, in
the top of the third inning. With the game tied,
Crawford hit a run-scoring single off Brooklyn
pitcher Hermann
Logan.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said
Crawford. "Obviously."
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday, October 7th, 1921 in
St. Louis. The scheduled starters for the game are Eli
Bostater for Brooklyn and Charley
Oaks for St. Louis.
