World Series Game 1 Victory for Bath and St. Louis
The stakes were high. Edgar Bath was ready.

The right-hander turned in a performance for the ages at Castle Point Field today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the St. Louis Explorers to victory in Game 1 of the World Series. Bath held the Brooklyn Bluebirds to 3 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 4. The win got the best-of-7 series off to a good start for St. Louis, which now leads 1-0.

Bath pitched a complete game for St. Louis. The 31-year-old right-hander was charged with no runs on 3 hits. He struck out 4 during his 102-pitch performance.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said St. Louis manager . "It's usually not just one thing."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in St. Louis. The scheduled starters for the game are Tuck Harrold for Brooklyn and Warley Krueger for St. Louis.
