Brooklyn Takes Series Lead
in Low-Scoring Affair |
Eli
Bostater pitched a gem to help the Brooklyn
Bluebirds escape with a tight 2-1 victory over
the St. Louis
Explorers in a low-scoring World Series
contest today. The right-handed Bostater threw 7
innings allowing 1 run in the win, just enough for
the Bluebirds on a day when their offense dried up.
Brooklyn now leads the best-of-7 series 2-1.
Bostater delivered in the bottom of the fifth inning
for Brooklyn. With the game tied and runners on 1st
and 2nd, the pitcher hit a run-scoring single to
left.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all
you can do," said Bostater.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled
starters for the game are Jolly
Hussey for St. Louis and Soloman
Carlson for Brooklyn.
