Road Win Lifts St. Louis
to 3-2 Lead in World Series
|
The St.
Louis Explorers have a critical edge over the
Brooklyn Bluebirds
in the World Series, thanks to the veteran arm of Edgar
Bath.
Bath, 31, put on a dominant performance at Flatbush
Park today, leading the Explorers to victory, 1-0,
in a pivotal Game 5. St. Louis is now one game away
from the World Series, leading the best-of-7 series
by a margin of 3-2. Brooklyn will need to win both
remaining games to advance.
Bath, who was born in Boston, Massachusetts, threw
100 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing no earned
runs.
"I had everything working," said Bath.
The next game is set to be played Tuesday, October
16th, 1923 at Castle Point Field in St. Louis. The
scheduled starters for the game are Tuck
Harrold for the Brooklyn Bluebirds and Brock
Rutherford for the the St. Louis Explorers.
