St. Louis 1923 World
Series Champions |
The St.
Louis Explorers pulled out all the stops
tonight, winning the World Series in a hard-fought
series with the Brooklyn
Bluebirds.
It was a seesaw affair, but with a 6-1 victory at
Castle Point Field, St. Louis lay claim to the
franchise's 3rd championship.
"There's no denying we faced a tough opponent," said
Edgar Bath.
"But as the old saying goes, 'when the going gets
tough, the tough get going,' and that's what we did
today."
The champs finished the regular season 93-65 and
claimed first place in the National Baseball League
Western Division.
A victory parade is set to be schedule in St. Louis
in the days to come. |
