Allgood, Knickerbockers Wallop Explorers in Game 1 of World Series
The New York Knickerbockers started the World Series in dominant fashion today, blowing out the host St. Louis Explorers at Castle Point Field by a score of 15-2 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Knickerbockers first baseman Bob Allgood was named player of the game as he went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4.

Allgood's nice game included a clutch 2-run single in the top of the first.

"We got our butts kicked," said St. Louis manager .

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow in St. Louis. The scheduled starters for the game are Jerome Wheelock for the New York Knickerbockers and Hampton Bunker for the the St. Louis Explorers.
