Blaney Handcuffs
Explorers, Knickerbockers Seize 2-0 Advantage in
World Series |
The New
York Knickerbockers got an exceptional
performance from starter Edgar
Blaney, who silenced the St.
Louis offense en route to a 6-0 shutout win in
Game 2 of the World Series today. The Explorers
could never get a bead on the right-handed Blaney,
who threw 9 innings of shutout ball to earn player
of the game honors. The Knickerbockers now hold a
2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
Blaney delivered a quality start for New York. The
6' 3" right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 9
innings of work.
Blaney told a New York Chronicle reporter that he
was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The next game is set to be played Friday, October
10th, 1924 at Knickerbocker Stadium. The scheduled
starters for the game are Hampton
Bunker for St. Louis and Jerome
Wheelock for New York.
