Almost There: New York On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 12-4 Win
The New York Knickerbockers moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting St. Louis Explorers at Knickerbocker Stadium by a score of 12-4. Knickerbockers first baseman Bob Allgood was named player of the game after he went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The win gives the Knickerbockers a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 World Series.

Nick Barnett aided the New York cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman went 2 for 5 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Knickerbockers," said Barnett.

Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow in New York. The scheduled starters for the game are Warley Krueger for St. Louis and Naman Futch for New York.
