World Series Game 1
Victory for Rutherford and St. Louis
|
The St.
Louis Explorers powered past the visiting New
York Knickerbockers, 3-2, in the opener of the
World Series at Castle Point Field today. St. Louis
starting pitcher Brock
Rutherford threw 9 innings of 8-hit ball, to
lead the charge. The Explorers now lead the series
1-0.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no
one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's
when center fielder Showboat
Hewitt, who is rated as the 46th best prospect
by BNN, reached on an error by the C. The Explorers
went on to win.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the
playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in
and get hot," St. Louis manager told BNN after the
win. "We took care of the first part and now we're
just working on the second."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Castle
Point Field in St. Louis. Slated to start are Naman
Futch for New York and Hampton
Bunker for St. Louis.
