Almost There: New York On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 5-3 Win
The New York Knickerbockers moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting St. Louis Explorers at Knickerbocker Stadium by a score of 5-3. Knickerbockers second baseman Doc Moore was named player of the game after he was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs. The win gives the Knickerbockers a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 World Series.

New York took the lead with one out in the bottom of the first when Ed Wall stroked a 2-run double. That made the score 2-0 in favor of New York. For the day, Wall went 1-3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said New York manager . "It's usually not just one thing."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Knickerbocker Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Brock Rutherford for the St. Louis Explorers and Heinie Rankin for the the New York Knickerbockers.
