World Series Game 1 Victory for Blaney and New York
The World Series got off to a quiet start today, with the host New York Knickerbockers taking a low-scoring 1-0 win over the St. Louis Explorers. New York right-hander Edgar Blaney was marvelous at Knickerbocker Stadium and was named player of the game. The Knickerbockers now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

New York grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Jason Wall delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 1-0 in favor of the Knickerbockers.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Blaney.

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in New York. Slated to start are Hampton Bunker for the St. Louis Explorers and Naman Futch for the the New York Knickerbockers.
