Knickerbockers Win to
Extend Series Lead to 2-0 |
The New
York Knickerbockers got a strong performance
from pitcher Naman
Futch, who stymied the visiting St.
Louis Explorers en route to a 5-1 win in Game
2 of the World Series today. The Explorers could
never get a bead on the right-handed Futch, who
threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball to earn player of the
game honors. The Knickerbockers now hold a 2-0 in
the best-of-7 series.
Futch gave New York a solid start. The right-hander
allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 9 innings.
"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard
down," Futch said. "I'll let my guard down as soon
as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my
finger."
The next game is scheduled for Friday. The scheduled
starters for the game are Will
Anderson for New York and Edgar
Bath for St. Louis.
