Knickerbockers Hammered by Pruitt, Drop Game 3 to Explorers
The St. Louis Explorers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading New York Knickerbockers, winning 10-4 at Castle Point Field today. Explorers center fielder Antony Pruitt was named player of the game after he was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The win cuts the deficit facing the Explorers to 2-1 in the best-of-7 World Series.

Pruitt had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the sixth for the Explorers. Coming up with the bases loaded and St. Louis trailing 4-3, he hit a grand slam.

Knickerbockers manager did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the World Series."

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow in St. Louis. The scheduled starters for the game are Martin Butt for the New York Knickerbockers and Warley Krueger for the the St. Louis Explorers.
