Knickerbockers Clip
Explorers 4-3 in World Series Contest
|
The New
York Knickerbockers relied on the hitting of
right fielder Ed
Wall to get by the St.
Louis Explorers, 4-3, in Game 2 of the World
Series today. For the game, Wall was 3 for 4 with a
double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. The
clubs are now tied, 1-1.
Tied up with the Explorers in the bottom of the
fifth inning, the Knickerbockers got a boost from
left fielder Hal
Scarlet. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Scarlet
saw a 0-2 forkball from Hermann
Logan and hit a run-scoring single to break
the stalemate and put New York on top, 4-3.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said St.
Louis skipper , "and it cost us."
The next game is set to be played Friday, October
12th, 1928. Slated to start are Will
Anderson for New York and Harry
McLoughlin for St. Louis.
