The New York Knickerbockers got a great start from 38-year-old right-hander Martin Butt, who earned player of the game honors today as New York won the contest 5-1 at Castle Point Field. Butt threw 9 innings of 8-hit ball in the win, which knotted the best-of-7 series at 2-2.

In the top of the third, with the game tied, the Explorers allowed the Knickerbockers to take a 2-0 lead on a base hit and St. Louis error.

"It was just a matter of executing," said New York manager .

Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Edgar Blaney for the New York Knickerbockers and Brock Rutherford for the the St. Louis Explorers.
