Knickerbockers Clip
Explorers 5-4 in World Series Contest
|
In a crucial game, the New
York Knickerbockers put on their best show,
beating the St.
Louis Explorers by a final score of 5-4 today.
Antony Pruitt
earned player of the game honors, as he went 4 for 5
with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI. New York and St.
Louis are now tied at 3 wins apiece in the best-of-7
affair.
Had Ed Wall
not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the
eighth, the outcome might have been different.
Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Wall
hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score
5-2, in favor of the Knickerbockers.
"I'm not sweating it," St. Louis manager told
reporters after the loss. "We'll recover. They say
it's all about winning games, but I would put up
with a heck of a lot of losses as long as we hoist
that trophy at the end of the year."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at
Knickerbocker Stadium in New York. Slated to start
are Edgar
Bath for St. Louis and Will
Anderson for New York.
