Bluebirds, Explorers Play 14 to Settle Game 2, Brooklyn Now Leads Series 2-0
The Brooklyn Bluebirds got a strong game from starter Frederic Isaac, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.

The Bluebirds took the 5-4 win over the St. Louis Explorers in Game 2 of the World Series in a 14th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Isaac, who was named player of the game. Isaac threw 9 innings allowing 4 runs in the win, which gave the Bluebirds a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Late in the game, catcher Jim Heffner had a big at-bat for Brooklyn. In the bottom of the 14th, he hit a run-scoring single off Phil King. The play gave the Bluebirds a 5-4 lead.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said St. Louis manager . "But we decided not to take it."

The next game is scheduled for Saturday, October 12th, 1929 in St. Louis. The scheduled starters for the game are Tuck Harrold for the Brooklyn Bluebirds and Boyle Slocum for the the St. Louis Explorers.
