Brooklyn Bluebirds Win
World Series |
With a 5-3 win over the St.
Louis Explorers tonight at Castle Point Field,
the Brooklyn
Bluebirds wrapped up their 8th title in team
history.
Brooklyn left little doubt who was the better club.
"Team" was the word of the day as the Bluebirds
celebrated the culmination of their banner year in
the victors clubhouse following the game.
"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things
you need to win, but most importantly you need a
team, a team that works together toward the same
collective goal," said Brooklyn manager . "Our
players felt that way all year and they played that
way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped
up their game and filled the void."
A jovial mood filled the air as Brooklyn celebrated
into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans
were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works.
"We're going to celebrate our team, our championship
Brooklyn Bluebirds,"
he said.
The champions completed the regular season with a
first-place finish in the National Baseball League
Eastern Division and a 99-59 record.
