Road Win Lifts New York to 1-0 Lead in World Series
The New York Knickerbockers started the World Series in style today, winning on the road against the Pittsburgh Industrials at Allegheny Field by a score of 5-1 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Knickerbockers right-hander Will Anderson was named player of the game after he threw 9 innings of 7-hit ball.

Anderson, who was born in Auburn, New York, threw 134 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing no earned runs.

"Will is tough when he's hitting his spots," said New York manager .

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Allegheny Field in Pittsburgh. The scheduled starters for the game are Jack Loiselle for New York and Jack Smith for Pittsburgh.
