Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Quakers
The Philadelphia Quakers grabbed a 8-7 win over the New York Knickerbockers at Penn's Landing Park. Philadelphia center fielder Del Ayres went 3-5 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once to earn player of the game honors. The win was Joe Hinman's in relief. His record improves to 13-7. Lowry Hopkins took the loss for New York. The first-place Quakers have won 5 straight.

Ayres had a game-changing single in the bottom of the tenth. On a 1-1 sinker from Lowry Hopkins, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Quakers a 8-7 lead. It was the 114th hit of the year for Ayres.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Philadelphia manager .
