New York Win Evens Series
at 3 |
The New
York Knickerbockers and the Pittsburgh
Industrials will take the World Series to a
decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today,
the Knickerbockers beat the Industrials 5-2 at
Allegheny Field to force the series into what will
essentially be a one-game playoff. New York
right-hander Lowry
Hopkins was named player of the game in the
win after he threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball.
Hopkins delivered in the top of the seventh inning
for New York. With the game tied and runners on 1st
and 2nd, the pitcher hit a 2-run double to left.
"Every team in baseball loses," Industrials manager
said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the
same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
Game 7 is scheduled for tomorrow at Allegheny Field.
The scheduled starters for the game are Jack
Loiselle for New York and George
Brummett for Pittsburgh.
