Knickerbockers Hammered by Metcalf, Drop Game 4 to Explorers
The St. Louis Explorers defeated the New York Knickerbockers, 9-5 in Game 4 of the World Series today. Earning player of the game honors was third baseman Gene Metcalf, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. The win moves St. Louis into a 2-2 tie with New York in the series.

Fred Dunn, who is a two-time All-Star, chipped in for St. Louis with a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.

In comments to the St. Louis Times, Dunn admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
