Explorers Hammered by Cresswell, Drop Game 3 to Knickerbockers
Already down in the World Series, the New York Knickerbockers put on their best show, beating the St. Louis Explorers by a final score of 10-5 today. Carl Cresswell earned player of the game honors, as he went 1-2 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. New York now trails St. Louis 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

Fred Wells's hit in the top of the 12th was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a sinker from Ralph Smither for a 2-run triple. It put New York in front, 6-4.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said St. Louis manager .

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Castle Point Field. Slated to start are Billy Frazier for New York and Jim O'Leary for St. Louis.
