Munson Handcuffs Quakers, Industrials Seize 2-0 Advantage in World Series
Chuck Munson pitched a gem to help the Pittsburgh Industrials escape with a tight 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Quakers in a low-scoring World Series contest today. The right-handed Munson threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, just enough for the Industrials on a day when their offense dried up. Pittsburgh now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.

Munson gave Pittsburgh a solid start. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 9 innings.

"It was a good effort all around," said Munson.

Game 3 is set to be played Friday, October 11th, 1940 in Pittsburgh. The scheduled starters for the game are John Reynolds for the Philadelphia Quakers and George Brummett for the the Pittsburgh Industrials.
