Road Win Lifts New York to
2-1 Lead in World Series |
Wes
Lee pitched a gem to help the New
York Knickerbockers escape with a tight 2-1
victory over the Chicago
Traders in a low-scoring World Series contest
today. The right-handed Lee threw 9 innings of 5-hit
ball in the win, just enough for the Knickerbockers
on a day when their offense dried up. New York now
leads the best-of-7 series 2-1.
Lee pitched a complete game for New York. The
34-year-old right-hander was charged with 1 run on 5
hits. He struck out 3 during his 112-pitch
performance.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for
the Knickerbockers," said Lee.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow. The
scheduled starters for the game are Charlie
Schmidt for the New York Knickerbockers and Moose
Austin for the the Chicago Traders.
