Price, Knickerbockers Take Dramatic Game 1 for 1-0 Series Lead
The New York Knickerbockers took the first game of the World Series in dramatic fashion today, topping the Chicago Traders with a ninth-inning, walk-off, 1-0 shutout victory. Knickerbockers pitcher Bill Price was selected player of the game, as he threw 7 innings of shutout ball.\n

Maurice Brown was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Knickerbockers center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"By the skin of our teeth, man," Price told the New York Bulletin. "But hey, it still counts. A few more by the skin of our teeth is fine with me."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Knickerbocker Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Aart MacDonald for the Chicago Traders and Pat Terrigan for the the New York Knickerbockers.
