Road Win Lifts St. Louis to 1-0 Lead in World Series
The St. Louis Explorers started the World Series in style today, winning on the road against the New York Knickerbockers at Knickerbocker Stadium by a score of 5-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Explorers right fielder Jim Adkinson was named player of the game after he went 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

Adkinson's nice game included a clutch bases-clearing triple in the top of the third.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Adkinson told a St. Louis Daily reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Dave Holt for St. Louis and Joe Crawford for New York.
