Seagulls Clip Empires 1-0
in LCS Contest |
The San
Francisco Seagulls got a complete game effort
from starter Paul
Burke to move into a 2-2 tie with the New
York Empires in the best-of-7 League
Championship Series.
The San Francisco
left-hander went the distance at Queens Field,
cooling off the New
York Empires and striking out 6 to help San
Francisco take the 1-0 win that knotted the series.
Burke pitched a complete game for San Francisco. The
31-year-old left-hander was charged with no runs on
6 hits. He struck out 6 during his 120-pitch
performance.
"Paul was pounding the zone," said San Francisco
manager Al Borie.
Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Queens Field in
New York. Slated to start are Ray
Hayes for San Francisco and Mike
Higgins for New York.
