Empires Even With Seagulls After Extra-Innings Win
The New York Empires and the San Francisco Seagulls will take the League Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. Facing a must-win situation at Mission Field today, the Empires beat the Seagulls 6-5 in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. New York catcher A.J. King was named player of the game in the win after he was 5-5 with a double, 4 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs.

The contest featured some late-game dramatics from New York catcher A.J. King. In the top of the 12th inning, with two out and a runner on 3rd, King drew a walk to help New York seize the win.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," King told reporters after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mission Field in San Francisco. Slated to start are Tom Green for the New York Empires and Paul Burke for the the San Francisco Seagulls.
