Series Lead to 3-2 |
Paul
Burke was not ready to let the World Series
end.
With the San
Francisco Seagulls backed into a corner, the
left-handed Burke held off the Philadelphia
Quakers. He took player of the game honors
after he threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball. The win cuts
the series deficit for the Seagulls to 3-2 in the
best-of-7 series.
In his 122-pitch effort, Burke allowed 1 earned run
on 5 hits over 9 innings. He walked 2 and struck out
6.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said
Burke.
Game 6 is set to be played Friday, October 25th,
1946 at Mission Field. Slated to start are Paul
Beam for the Philadelphia Quakers and Wes
Lee for the the San Francisco Seagulls.
