Empires Advance to World Series
The League Championship Series may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The New York Empires, however, are not complaining.

The Empires were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the San Francisco Seagulls to advance to the World Series.

New York won the final game by a 3-1 count at Mission Field and the series 4-2.

Empires catcher A.J. King was named series MVP, as he hit .409 with a .462 on-base percentage. He added 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 8 runs.

"It's not going to be the last time San Francisco makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," King said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day."

The New York Empires will play against the Chicago Traders in the next round. Chicago won their series against the New York Knickerbockers 4 games to 0. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
