MacDonald Handcuffs
Hurons, Traders Seize 2-0 Advantage in WS
|
The Chicago
Traders got a strong performance from pitcher
Aart MacDonald,
who stymied the visiting Toronto
Hurons en route to a 5-3 win in Game 2 of the
World Series today. The Hurons could never get a
bead on the right-handed MacDonald, who threw 7
innings allowing 3 runs to earn player of the game
honors. The Traders now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7
series.
Chicago grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth.
With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Billy
West delivered a 2-run single, to make it 3-1
in favor of the Traders.
"Aart was pounding the zone," said Chicago manager
Winston Tinker.
Game 3 is set to be played Tuesday, October 19th,
1948 at Toronto Park. Slated to start are Dave
Keen for Chicago and Charlie
Sinclair for Toronto.
