Crowd Propels Seagulls to 5-2 Victory; Series Tied
at 2 |
The San
Francisco Seagulls topped the Toronto
Hurons by the score of 5-2 and moved into a
2-2 tie in the League Championship Series today. The
largest share of the credit went to player of the
game and San Francisco starter Doc
Bertram, who threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball in
the win.
Ray
Jones hit a bases-clearing double off Charlie
Sinclair in the bottom of the fifth, which put
the Seagulls in front, 4-1. In addition to the
double, Jones had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2
for 3.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Bertram. "But
I have better dreams after a win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at
Mission Field. Slated to start are Albert
England for the Toronto Hurons and Neil
Meredith for the the San Francisco Seagulls.
