Host Seagulls Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
The Toronto Hurons moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the San Francisco Seagulls on the road at Mission Field by a score of 11-4. Hurons left fielder John Young was named player of the game after he was 2-2 with a triple and 3 walks. He scored 3 times. The win gives the Hurons a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Don Hatton, the 19th overall pick in the 1947 draft, aided the Toronto cause with a 2-run single in the top of the first. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Hatton. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday in Toronto. Slated to start are Ray Hayes for the San Francisco Seagulls and Albert England for the the Toronto Hurons.
